This is a band that continues to find new ways to push boundaries. Is it experimental rock? Neo-psych? Their music is best described as "a genre unto itself."
Under the name Stuurbaard Bakkebaard, this trio has released five albums since 1996 and played hundreds of shows in the Netherlands, Europe, and South Africa. After their last album, "Boys Do Cry" (PIAS), a temporary lull followed--but certainly not inactivity. Primarily behind the scenes, they created music for film and television, while sketching the contours of something new: new music, meant to be played live. It evolved into their sixth album.
SBBB is not a reunion. Not a comeback. This is a new chapter in a story that is far from over. Now they're returning to the stage!
SBBB - FEEDING THE RATS: New album, vinyl release on March 20, 2026
You'll hear SBBB at their rawest and most angular yet, with a sound built on fuzz, drums, and their signature bent-language vocals. It's intense, abrasively charming, and even strangely danceable. Live, it's a must-see experience.
